Taylor is such a professional, isn’t he? Didn’t you love the way he worked the audience last night after it was announced that he’d won?
“Come on America, Get up! I’m living the American Dream!” he said. And how right he was. What a performer. He deserves this.
I’m thankful to have gotten the opportunity to write for The Official Soul Patrol website these past few months. I was convinced that Taylor had what it took way back in March, and it’s so incredibly satisfying to see him come all this way and win the whole thing like he did. It couldn’t have worked out better than this, but now we’re all kind of bummed out that it’s over!
Start to finish, he was always my favorite. We all jumped aboard the Soul Train and rode it all the way to the Kodak Center.
Now the train switches tracks and Taylor’s whole life changes. Wow. I wonder how it feels to go from being a virtual nobody, to having one of the most recognized faces in the world- in a period of only three months? I can’t imagine.
So, Congratulations, Taylor! You did it! Just for the record, we never even considered that you might not win this. Anyone that saw your early auditions would have been crazy not to figure you’d be in the finals. We all knew it all along.
Anyway, great job! You’ve definitely earned a place in our hearts forever, and the title of American Idol for 2006.
Cheers!
Mike
